Notes |
This MS is also known as 'Missal of Saint-Melaine of Rennes.' It is indeed most likely that it was written at the abbey of Saint-Melaine at Rennes around AD 1100, as is indicated by the strong focus on Saint Melanius in the calendar that opens the MS (cf. Duine 1902, also for the other Breton saints mentioned in this calendar). The MS presents interesting iconography at fols 7v (Christ in glory and agnus Dei) and 8r (Crucifixion scene). |
