Bischoff's geographical ascription of this codicological unit of Orléans 302 says 'Wahrscheinlich Bretagne' (Kat. §3740); indeed, this entry of Kat. describes the script of these pages as 'unausgeglichene insul. Halbunz.' (cf. also DGVB 4, and PMSB 305: 'écriture de type insulaire'). Moreover, Bischoff provided a list of the most prominent abbreviations occurring therein, many of which are of insular character. It should also be noted that the invocation written on p. 9, line 19 (mentioned in Lemoine 2008: 196–7; Pellegrin and Bouhot 2010: 407), In nomine Dei sumi [sic] saluatoris cosmi, displays a use of the term cosmus comparable to the invocation that opens the Breton computistical collection in Paris, BnF, Lat. 6400B, fol. 249(bis)r: In honomate filii redemptoris cosmi a m(alo). These palaeographical and textual features, combined with the presence of nine Old Breton glosses inserted by the same hand that also wrote the main text (cf. Loth 1912), do point to Brittany as the most likely place of origin (this geographical ascription is indeed adopted in Pellegrin and Bouhot 2010: 406, although cf. LF BF799 for Fleury as an alternative possibility). It is also worth mentioning the presence of Breton neumes (added probably during the tenth or eleventh century) in the second codicological unit of Orléans 302, p. 137 (Pellegrin and Bouhot 2010: 407).
