Notes |
The relics of Pope Marcellinus had been kept at Redon since AD 847 (ILLB V208, p. 171), and this is the reason behind the texts occurring at fols 1r–9v of Vat.lat.9668. This codicological unit, almost certainly written at Redon around AD 1100, was eventually bound with other units produced for the most part at Mont-Saint-Michel—an abbey which our MS may have reached at an early stage (close contacts between Redon and Mont-Saint-Michel in the eleventh century are well documented). |
