Notes

According to Deuffic (PMSB §105), Fleuriot included this MS in his unpublished list of Breton manuscripts. A Breton origin was also proposed by Bischoff (1976: 159, n. 131: 'The only known MS. of the work [i.e. Sulpicius Severus's Chronica], Vat. Pal. Lat. 825, is Bretonic, saec. X'; cf. also Bischoff 1989: 126). In addition to highlighting the existence of other fragments of the otherwise extremly rare Chronica of Sulpicius Severus in the Staatsarchiv of Lucerne (possibly originating from ninth-century Corbie), Hoffmann only reports Bischoff's ascription of Pal.lat.825, without discussing it any further (Hoffmann 2003: 447–8). A Breton origin, although possible, remains unconfirmed.
